#Brooklyn - Leia was rescued from the streets at 16 weeks old, so she was a late starter and can seem more aloof than other cats, despite being very sweet and loving once she trusts you and especially at meantime! She is a very quiet cat and mostly prefers the company of other cats and to laze around in her favourite sleeping spots. Once rescued it became clear that she was definitely meant to be a house cat as she is not at all mean and would unlikely have made a good outdoors kitty! (Her life would have consisted of churning out endless kittens until her body could take no more.)

She is highly food motivated and enjoys being pet. Speed up the process by offering her treats and meats! Leia is currently residing at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe on Atlantic ave, and has been coming out of her shell gradually, though she has continued being quite lazy during her stay there. She gets along well with other cats, mostly the other lazy ones, but is shy around people. She can be overlooked given the number of lovely outgoing friendly cats most adopters are greeted by, but those who spend a bit of time getting to know her and reach out to her will see that sweet side of her that enjoys a nice head rub. Leia will do wonderfully with a family who appreciates her for who she is and can help her gain more confidence. With the right loving person, she might even become a lapcat someday! (These cats tend to pick favourites when they gel with others!)

Leia is a brown and red Tortoiseshell tabby with a splash of ginger on one of her back legs. She has a cuddly face like a teddybear!

Leia's brother Luke is also located at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe. They have been too busy lazing and interacting with other cats so we have decided that they may be adopted out separately. Leia still requires that she be homes with another young cat or to a home with existing friendly cats. She would likely be afraid of very young children but okay with mature children.

Both cats are FiV negative, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

You can come meet Leia at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe. Please contact amyinzombieland[AT]gmail.com with any queries or submit an application if you think Leia would be a good fit for your family!

#Brooklyn - Luke was rescued from the streets at 4-months old (late starter!) having pretty much invited himself into his rescuer's home. As such he is shy around people, but he has blossomed beautifully at the cat cafe where he gets along very well with other cats!

You can come meet Luke at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe!

.:: About Luke ::.

Lukey can go unnoticed given that he is quite timid compared to some of the more bold and outgoing cats around. However once you spend some time with him you can tell he is a sweetheart just waiting to meet his forever family. He has some cute quirks such as his meerkat pose when you are holding up treats or food. He enjoys playing but if you really want the key to his heart then try treats, especially meat which is his favourite! He also enjoys playing with other friendly kitties a lot, but shies away from any bossy or moody cats. He needs a loving family who will continue bringing him out of his shell and in return he has tonnes of love to give.

Luke's sister Leia is also at the cafe, but is more shy than Luke, so we have decided to allow them to be adopted separately provided they go with another young cat or into a household with existing (and friendly) cats.

Both kitties are FIV negative, up to date on shots, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Come meet them anytime at the cat cafe!

Alternatively contact: amyinzombieland[AT]gmail.com if you have questions about this little handsome guy!

#Brooklyn - Christopher is a sweet and playful boy who is secretly longing for attention. His resuce and vet visits made him nervous and and so he hides under the couch at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe. But when the crowds are gone, he sneaks out hoping to cuddle up next to a warm person that he knows, purring and purring and purring.

Christopher started life one year ago as an orphan with his siblings Connor and Chloe. They all were suffering from a terrible eye infection which left each cat with only one good eye. Christopher has scarring in his bad eye but it is no distraction from adventures with feathers and treats, and it requires no extra care on the part of the lucky person who takes him home.

Christopher likes to have a feline companion and should live with another cat. He is spayed, vaccinated and FIV/FeLV negative. Please email BrooklynBridgeAnimals@yahoo.com for more info, or visit Brooklyn Cat Cafe at 149 Atlantic Avenue.

#NYC - River was originally rescued in Philadelphia when she was picked up, pregnant and alone, and brought to a high-kill shelter. Thankfully, a volunteer friend reached out to us and this sweet cross-eyed girl was wisked to Brooklyn to safety!

River adores people and has a dog-like personality. She greets her foster family at the door and loves to hang out with her people. She enjoys playing with her favorite fishing pole toys, and then blissfully stretching out for a long nap on a sunny windowsill.

River does not like other cats at all, and needs to be a single girl. She would love a social home with adults who give her lots of attention and play time.

River is between 2 and 3 years old, spayed, vaccinated, FIV and FeLV negative, and microchipped. Please email BrooklynBridgeAnimals@yahoo.com to arrange a play date in her West Village foster home.

#Brooklyn - Built like a linebacker with a giant head, Marvin looks like one tough tomcat. But should a stranger appear he hides under the nearest furniture. If you're meeting him for the first time, don't worry! All you have to do is start petting his big head and he'll be out and on your lap in seconds. This mighty, meaty, fraidy tom is just a big, giant mush!

Shy, tough-looking Marvin is a closet lap-cat. He absolutely craves affection. He likes his food but sometimes he likes pets even better. He was thrown outdoors with a litter of siblings when whoever owned them was evicted from an apartment. He survived taking scraps under cars for at least a couple of years. People were probably mean to him, judging from his timidity, but his need for human companionship never left him and he will make some lucky person a very loving companion.

Marvin is two years old and would be best as a single cat.

Marvin is a healthy, FIV+ cat who requires no special care. Read why FIV+ cats make great pets. www.vetstreet.com/our-pet-experts/why-this-vet-thinks-fiv-positive-cats-make-great-adoptees

Marvin is neutered, vaccinated, and FeLV negative. Please email BrooklynBridgeAnimals@yahoo.com to arrange a play date.

#Brooklyn - Tina might be a little shy when she first meets you, but once she gets to know you, she will be very affectionate and cuddly. She loves to follow her people around and likes to give Eskimo kisses. Prepare yourself to have her curled up in your lap and purring like the little lovebug she is.

Tina is very playful and would do best in a home with another cat. Her favorite toys are cloth mice and balls to chase around. She conveys a lot with her affectionate body language, but she is not very vocal and has a tiny and polite meow.

Tina is 6 months old, FIV and FeLV negative, spayed and has had all vaccines. If you would like meet her, please email teamtinybk@gmail.com

Elvis is a friendly house cat that I found abandoned in a desolate area. Elvis is distinctive in that -while he is not declawed--he does not use his claws--he is not very interested in scratching furniture.
Elvis is a big teddy bear. He loves to be picked up and hugged, and purrs loudly. The vet estimates his age between 5-9 years old.
He is a super gentle and laid back cat. When I found him I jumped out of the car and picked him right up. He calmly sat in my arms on the way home. Despite his awful abandonment, he likes people, is friendly and has a heart of gold. He loves to be petted and purrs strongly. Elvis is very docile and gentle--would be great with kids.

He is currently living with other cats but would rather be a Solo cat. Elvis is a mellow fellow and super low maintenance --he has excellent litter box habits and is not a fussy eater. Elvis tests negative to FIV/ FeLV.

Elvis developed Stomatitus recently (gum inflammation) after having dental work. He take a daily pill and now feels fine and has a diet of soft wet food.

Elvis was found neutered and has all his vaccines. If you would like to meet him, in Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Staten Island please contact jensenmania@gmail.com.
There is a small adoption fee to cover vetting, and an adoption application.

#Brooklyn - Adopt or Foster Marley: Chill Bro Lap-Cat!

Seeking a chill dude to hang out on your lap and watch the game with you? Are you ready for your next bromance? Our man Marley is just the pal for you - if he were a person we swear he would be wearing a plaid shirt, beard, and baseball cap.

Marley is five years old and has had a bit of a bad run, lately. Born in an outdoor feral cat colony in Ditmas Park and rescued as a kitten, he was recently given up by his owner of five years. Marley was somewhat traumatized when he landed at Brooklyn Cat Cafe. After some time hanging out UNDER the couches he discovered it was cooler to hang out ON the couches and meet people. It turned out to be even cooler to sit in their laps (including Santa's!) Boy, does he like to snuggle up to somebody and get some lovin! He also is kind of getting into cat toys and enjoying some exercise now and then.

Thus this mellow, affectionate boy has been making the best of this transition period, but he is really looking forward to a stable, forever home and devoting himself to one or two good people instead of an endless series of casual meetings with strangers.

Marley is neutered, vaccinated and FIV/FeLV negative. If you'd like to meet Marley, stop by Brooklyn Cat Cafe at 149 Atlantic Avenue, catcafebk.com.

She is looking for a loving home where she can snuggle with someone during the upcoming cold months. Cookie would be great in a home with children and/or a friendly dog or cat.

She has excellent litter box habits and is not a fussy eater. She is FIV/FeLV negative, miicrochipped, spayed and has all had all her vaccines. If you would like to meet her she is at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe (www.catcafebk.com) or contact brooklynbridgeanimals@yahoo.com for more information.

#Brooklyn - Betty is a pretty black cat, with soft black fur and bright green eyes. She arrived in our foster care after being abandoned in Ridgewood, and is now enjoying the good food and head scratches!

Betty is a devoted lap cat and loyal companion. She'll happily greet you at the door, and patiently wait for head bonks and chin rubs. She enjoys a vigorous play sessions, and will dash and leap after a fishing pole toy. When the day is done, she is the picture of contentment while snoozing on your lap. Betty strongly believes she should be the only cat in residence, and needs to be a single kitty.

Betty is the perfect cat for a caretaker who enjoys a relaxed home and a loving kitty. She is 4 years old, spayed, vaccinated, FIV and FeLV negative, and microchipped. She's ready for her forever home! Please email BrooklynBridgeAnimals@yahoo.com to arrange a play date in Brooklyn.

Phineas 2-YO fella. Once almost blind, now he can see! Phinny has been given a second chance at life!

Phinny appears to LOVE other cats. He often trills when he sees other cats and seems desperate to go say hello. Playful, loving, this amazing little guy has loads of love to give a new family.

ABOUT
Phineas was rescued off the street in Richmond Hill, NY. With a nasty winter ahead of him, Phinny was suffering horribly and was going blind with entropions (ingrown eyelids) and infection setting in both eyes which bled and must have been very painful at the time. The vet feared he would have to have both eyes removed, which would have left him both sightless and homeless, an awful situation for any outdoor kitty. Luckily that didn't have to happen as behind all that mess his eyes were found to be intact, just scarred, most likely from him surviving outside. After receiving much-needed surgery, and an unfortunate face shave, his eyes are looking fantastic and his vision has been restored to 90%! A miracle! His face hair has almost completely grown back and he is feeling much happier in himself.

After a few weeks of TLC, it became apparent that this little guy once belonged to somebody, but for some reason ended up homeless and sick. Phinny is looking to find happiness with a new family who will cherish and make him feel safe again. He has so much love to give.

Phineas is estimated to be about 2-years old and incredibly sweet. He kneads anything in sight, (hard floor, air, his bed) when he is happy which is most of the time, even if you are just talking to him. He's also very playful and loves collecting toys in his bed. Cooked chicken is a sure way to make him your friend for life! He currently only likes Friskies but we are working on that and have him eating Earthborn as well.

FIV - negative. Phineas is up to date on shots, fixed and ready for his forever home.

It is unknown whether he gets along with dogs. Cats OK. He was spotted with other outside (colony) cats and was comfortable with them (despite being bullied by a tom cat on the day of his rescue!).

If you would like to foster (and potentially adopt) or adopt Phineas, please fill out an application with the rescue to arrange a meet. If you have any queries about Phinny, please contact his foster caretaker at amyinzombieland@gmail.com or BrooklynBridgeAnimals@yahoo.com.

#Brooklyn - Hi! My name is Autumn, and I will be your forever, loving and loyal companion. Though I was discovered emaciated, begging strangers for food in a busy BedStuy square, I am now a full figured princess. I love a plush place to sleep, preferably near my human. I have daily play/exercise time, and I am quite good at entertaining myself with my favorite toys. I'm a social girl, greeting all who visit. And, if I want attention or a treat, I will give forceful head butts or a gentle meow while I stare longingly into your eyes. I might flop over on my back for a belly rub or just the drama of it all to be noticed. Though I live in a multi-cat household, I would prefer being your one and only.

Autumn is UTD on shots, spayed and FIV, FLV negative. Please contact brooklynbridgeanimals@yahoo.com She is fostered by KR.

#Brooklyn - Bat Cat is a happy-go-lucky, gregarious kitten who can usually be found snuggling with visitors at the Brooklyn Cat Cafe (149 Atlantic Avenue). He also loves playing and napping in the sunlight with his kitty friends. He is 10 months old, plump and healthy (FIV/FeLV negative), vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

Bat Cat adores people but, like most kittens, would be happiest in a home with another friendly cat. If you have room in your family for a beautiful kitten with enormous ears, please stop by the Brooklyn Cat Cafe to meet Bat Cat!

Ben was found as part of a family of cats in Williamsburg. He is a super gentle and laid back cat. Though he had no home and I rescued him at about one year old from the street, he is a tremendous cat. He is so sweet, and wants to be around me and the other kitties, who he is great with. He is very relaxed, though will take a little bit of time to trust you as you would imagine. He can be timid as he builds trust, but never by hissing or scratching. He is truly very gentle and so so sweet. I am surprised how quickly he has come along. I have only had him about a month and he lets me scratch his head and back as he lays down. He loves to be petted. He is super low maintenance --he has excellent litter box habits and is not a fussy eater. He is FIV - / FeLV - , is neutered and has all his vaccines. #NYC - My name is Mac. I was a well cared for colony cat who eventually found the streets too stressful with growing construction. I was pretty popular on my block and crawled onto neighbors laps for love. I now live a cushy life as a couch potato, window watching and lap loving guy. I am best friends with the smallest human in my foster home and get along well with all humans, all ages. I especially enjoy belly rubs, nap time and cuddles. I am generally a laid back dude and will call out in my masculine meow when I am lonely. Loud noises can make me temporarily skittish, but I recover quickly once soothed. I prefer being your one and only, but can possibly share space with a non-territorial, laid back, female cat.

Mac is UTD on shots, neutered and FIV, FLV negative. His foster is located in Upper Manhattan. Please contact Kellie at BrooklynBridgeAnimals@yahoo.com to set up a play date
